My name is John Weng and I'm the Assistant Director, A.S. Operations for Associated Students at UC San Diego. I completed my Master's at San Diego State University, receiving a degree in Postsecondary Educational Leadership with a specialization in Student Affairs.

My professional interests include student development, leadership development, assessment, social media, and, technology. I'm very excited to share my experiences with you.   • Assistant Director, A.S. Operations | Associated Students

    UC San Diego
    Reporting to the Director of A.S. Administration, I oversee and provide leadership to the advising team of the Associated Students including staff members who advise SPACES (Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service) and the A.S. Advisor. In this role, I also manage the Triton Food Pantry, and advise the Senate of the Associated Students.

  • Coordinator of Student Activities | John Muir College

    UC San Diego
    Serving the students of John Muir College at UC San Diego, this position allows me to work closely with the student leaders of John Muir College in advising their programming and initiatives. The Coordinator of Student Activities coordinates and develops leadership development programs for the College and serves as a liaison between the students and campus-wide resources and services. This role serves as the lead staff member for assessment of College programs and represents the College to the rest of UC San Diego on campus-wide initiatives relating but not limited to Welcome Week and Triton Day activities.

  • Program Advisor (Interim) | Associated Students

    UC San Diego
    Serving in an interim capacity, I work with the Interim Director of the Associated Students to advise and provide student development support 50+ elected and appointed Associated Student officials. This includes program and budget development and coordination of campus-wide initiatives.

  • Student Advisory Board Coordinator | MA Postsecondary Educational Leadership

    San Diego State University
    Along with 4 other students, I work with the Program Coordinator and Assistant Program Coordinator to develop programming for current student, engage alumni of the program, and coordinate the recruitment and orientation for new students.

  • Fraternity and Sorority Life Graduate Assistant | Student Life and Leadership

    San Diego State University
    I advise Council and chapter leadership of the Greek Community while providing leadership development. I have developed in-house programs that streamlined the registration process for Panhellenic Formal Recruitment and predictors for PNM reactions upon receiving their schedules.

  • Graduate Intern | NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education

    Reporting to the Assistant Director of Educational Programs, I lead the national Careers in Student Affairs Month initiative, develop Guidebook applications, and provide support to a variety of educational programming for over 14,000 member administrators.

  • Assessment Graduate Assistant | Student Affairs

    UC San Diego
    Reporting to the Director of Assessment and Evaluation for the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, I drafted the 13-14 Annual Assessment Report, coordinated workshops and revamped the assessment website for improved ease of use.
