Meet John.
John lives and breathes leadership. John is the Principal of John Weng Consulting LLC. A Certified Leadership Coach, he has coached, designed, and facilitated workshops for clients in the education, nonprofit, and Fortune 500 spaces in addition to entrepreneurs. He has worked with industries such as higher education, technology, associations, and healthcare. His audience spans across all levels of an organization from individual contributors and front-line managers to middle managers and senior executives. He maintains active affiliations with organizations like ExecOnline as a Leadership Coach and at the Center for Creative Leadership as Faculty. He brings to his work a decade’s experience as a cross-functional leader at UC San Diego.
Outside of coaching and facilitating, John is also a scholar and educator at night. He is currently adjunct faculty at the University of San Diego’s Department of Leadership Studies and Knauss Business School, where he advances a research agenda on group dynamics, group relations, and case-in-point pedagogy and teaches in the Leadership Coaching Certificate program. His work with groups is informed and enhanced by research and practice, including his Doctorate in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego and group relations work. He is a certified consultant by the A. K. Rice Institute for Social Systems, a co-creator with Group Relations International and members of the International Leadership Association and International Coaching Federation.

John is certified by the Myers-Briggs Foundation™ as a MBTI™ Masters Practitioner, the highest level designation, to provide individual and team interpretations, workshops, and feedback sessions. John is also certified to work with other personality assessments such as the Hogan Personality Assessments, FIRO-B, and WorkPlace Big 5.

John is a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach and can bring in a Strengths-based approach informed by positive psychology. With this tool, individuals and teams can explore their natural talents and set a plan to achieve their goals.
